Shingle Damage

What Shingle Damage Means for Your Roof

Don’t ignore a few broken shingles—they can be signs of much bigger issues.

From down on the ground, you probably won’t be able to see one or two shingles with problems. But if you can see shingle damage without getting up on your roof, that means it’s time to call in the professionals at Tittle Brothers Construction.

Aside from ground-level inspections, we recommend homeowners get up on their roof to take a closer look. Just remember that a quick once-over can’t take the place of a full-fledged professional inspection!

Shingle damage can come in a few different forms:

  • Curling shingles are the result of heat-related cracking or excessive moisture. It looks like curling around the perimeter of the shingle as it lifts from the roof itself.
  • Cracked shingles come from a cracked mat below the shingle. Shingles can also crack from hail, wind, or other object damage and old age.
  • Granule loss indicates that the roof is nearing the end of its lifespan. Shingles have granules to protect the house from the sun’s UV rays and also to make the shingles more fire-resistant, so remedying this issue is vital.
